Treating Insomnia with Natural Herbs

Since most complaints about not sleeping well are due to worry, stress and anxiety, these natural herbs help the mind to relax; making sleep possible.  If you are having trouble sleeping, give these a try:

Chamomile

Chamomile is considered a sedative herb, and is good for helping the body to relax.  Used as a tea, it heals restlessness and irritability.  Historically,  used in Europe, South Africa and Mexico for insomnia. Chamomile can also be used as a massage oil.

Lavender

Lavender is also useful for helping people with sleep disorders.  It relieves stress, anxiety and tension.  One can reap lavenders’ benefits with a few drops of  lavender oil in a bath before bed, a lavender oil massage or as tea.

Passion Flower

Passion Flower has long been used to treat insomnia.  It is a sedative and most helpful for minor sleep problems. A cup of Passion Flower tea before bed is a wonderful relaxer.

Lime Blossom

Lime Blossom, also known as Linen, is a soothing remedy for anyone needing to relax.  The Lime Blossom herb goes back 700 years and has been known to treat nervousness, stress, and anxiety.  For relaxation, use as a tea, a few drops of lime blossom essential oil in a bath or for a massage.

To get the most from these herbal teas, they should be without caffeine.
